September 24th:  October means Movie Reviews.  But for now?  Puppet Design art.

Art for a less-than-secret project that I hope works out.  Time will tell, I'll keep you guys informed.

My mind is my enemy, Green Witch Moon

September 18th:  What have I been up to?

To answer that question, I've been working on puppets.  A friend of mine asked for help in putting together for show he was asked to put together for and by MTV and if you can follow what I mean by that, you know that it's awesome.  Puppet art will be up next week, but here's some Art to make up for lost time.

(Sorry for the lack of art this week.  Things are crazy.  Speaking of crazy things, I'm painting puppets.  Come back next week for pictures of the madness.)

Inky Spinster, The Pope(?)

Oh and here's a weird story from a Forum Friend.   For the sake of brevity, here's John's Story:

"When I was pursuing my undergraduate degree, there was a professor named Dr. Brian Morley. Dr. Morley was an awesome teacher, but I noticed every time that he went home he would carry a HUGE stack of papers, obviously more than a single man could grade. Now, all of the significant essays and homework projects received meticulous grading, but the smaller 2-page papers in each class? People became suspicious that perhaps he did not really read them. And so, I was drafted to find out.

Now you see, most people stick "hidden" text into their papers, like, "if you read this, I will buy you a coffee." Not me! I wanted to go for the gold, to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt whether Dr. Morley reads all of his papers!

When I got my paper back, the grade was as follows:"

Well, I was amused.  Oh and just so you know, DOCTOR Morley is still teaching and would like you all to know he does indeed read the papers given to him.  He remembers the incident well, and would like it mentioned that he does indeed read papers.  From John Morey, the evil mastermind who orchestrated the above devious plot:  "As it turned out, since my essay did indeed contain two pages of requirement-filling text, he saw no reason to grade it down.  As previously mentioned, the man will take home HUUUUUGE stacks of paperwork, and the more important an assignment is, the more detail he will go into while grading it.  The little two-page essays were looked at, but he didn't necessarily devote the same amount of time to them.  Just so you know, an awful paper would still get a poor grade."  Me and John figure it's only fair to include this little blurb, as methinks the next time someone googles their professor's name they might find something strange.  Like reading he doesn't read your homework.  Which, well, isn't true.

It's still funny, though.

June 1st:  Death in the Family....thanks for understanding.

May 21st:  Hi!

Pure Inflation, A Simple Stare, Platypus, Pharoah #321:  King Toot-a-Loot, Carnivorous Swine

Adorable Death, Dan Savage knows my Secrets, Death March Map, Death March Desperate, Kidnap

Bonfire Ink, The Happy Chef, Tibetan Ghost, Rwar, Japanese Mythos:  Tengu Warrior

Ink:  Crosshatched Vampire, The Scream, Grumpy Bear

This next one is one I'm really happy with, but it doesn't scan well.  It's actually half sculpture.  I took a kid's toy from Burger King, glued it to a canvas, painted over the whole damn thing with like a pound of paint....and then repainted it a bit.  Check it out...it sticks about half an inch off the canvas.

A terrible scan, but I've included the close-up so you can see the detail or lack thereof.  This baby really is 3-D and it makes me happy.

By the by, here's a screen grab of the original toy, just because I'd be remiss if I didn't show it.

April 23rd:  Yep, more paintings.

Cloverfield Crabs, Xenu amuses me, Yet another Fishman, Frankenhooker #34, Aztec Ink, "A Most Generic Dragon"

With my excuse(s) out of the way, let's get down to some new Art.

SockPuppet Harlequin, Lonely, Emo Sausage, Nymph Doodle, Dark Motherhood

Dumb Bunny, Poster Art for a new gaming shop called "Games, More Games, and Everything" (Now re-named Gamers' Dream, thank Christ), and a doodle snake of some sort.

February 28th:  Opera opens soon and I'm STILL working on animation.  Enjoy random stuff & Heavy Metal contest art.

Heavy Metal: Battle Boobs makes me way too happy.  Oh and the other is Negative Smut.

These are what I'll doodle for you if you trick me into joining your forum.  These were done randomly in the past 24 hours on Newgrounds...because I needed a break from Opera doom.

February 21st:  I guess I update on Thursdays now.

Ink Cloverfield, Big Booty Rotoscope, "Late Night Comment from Kate", Pumpkrin, Random Random #47

This is an incomplete thing I'm doing for a Heavy Metal/Newgrounds contest that's going on.  Since it's going to be pretty different from what I usually do...and I kind of like it, I'm sharing it while it's in it's youngling phase.

Speaking of Newgrounds, this week's banner was inspired by a Megaman flash cartoon punchline.

I turned that into this:

I'm a Mega Man dork.  So sue me.  Also check out the flash cartoon by clicking HERE.  Even cooler, if you remember my 300-Hour Art Crash, you'll recognize a lot of the more obscure characters that show up.

February 14th:  Ignoring Valentine's Day completely but make up for it with stuff I'm proud of (somewhat)

Mr. Skullhead (Not Forgotten), Human Genome, Baphomet has seen you, "Penicorn" (from Newgrounds)

Send in the Thief first, Flying Spaghetti Monster, "The World's Happiest Self-Destructing Fish"

January 23rd:  Every Wants to Be a Joey Clown

Joey Clown 1 & 2, Samurai Flame, "The Supreme Benefits of Solar Power over conventional models", Zombie Harlot in Ink

By the by, those first two were gifts for my friend's Joey Clown, pictured right here.  Oh and if you don't know what a Joey Clown is...go to Clown College.  No, really.  Tell them Jared sent you.

January 17th:  Experiments and Heroes

Yellow Sticky Note of Terror, Crocodile Smile, Request Art:  Darvek, Hellwolf, Blind Girl

January 8th:  Online Gaming, The Golden Compass, and D&D.  I'm such a dork sometimes.

The Golden Monkey, Lyra and Friend

Mushroom Guardian, Lord Recluse (from City of Villains), Blue Re-Entry

January 2nd:  Voodoo Macbeth

As a few of you might know, I'm working on an Opera here in Berlin.  It's Macbeth...with a voodoo theme.  Enjoy a healthy dose of concept/poster art, some of which is actually being used for the production.

Voodoo Macbeth #1, Ritual Crown, Voodoo Macbeth #2, Dambalahs, The Space w/ visions

Macbeth: not a cook, I see you, Witch Crown doodle design, Hecate mask option #2

Macbeth & Eve (think about it...Adam & Eve's story has a heck of a lot in common with Macbeth), Hello my dear, "Page 5 to Jared's Illustrated guide to Macbeth".

Some of my Family also got some really creepy Rotoscopes for SantaDay.  Check 'em out.

December 8th:  Oh my.  Sorry about getting distracted.

Dr. House is a Total Knob, Voodoo Macbeth 2, Shark Power, Pastel Angst

Obey Your Television, I'm So Happy, and "Jared was told that if he ever forgets an update he has to put a stick figure on the site".  That last bit is true.  So if I don't watch out, Head Injury Theater might turn into Stick Figure Theater.  Creepy, right?
